Lunch with the Lupers

June 17, 2018
We try never to go close to Knoxville without making a stop to see the girls (and their parents, of course!) Today was no exception. We met Lib, Chris, Teaghyn, and Sophia the First (alias Anistyn) at Cracker Barrel. We were fed and energized by conversation, little kisses and hugs and we were off again after a two hour eat and shopping-for-toy-and-jelly-bean fest. Headed for our first night stop in Cookeville, TN.
(Not the best shot but you get the full view of Sophia herself! Check out the matching shoes.)

We Tried. . . .

Ok, so living in a town where it's acceptable to overnight RV park in WalMart, we've tossed around doing it ourselves, especially when a quick overnight stay is necessary. So yesterday we pulled into a very nice WalMart Super Center in Cookeville, Tennessee with the intention of doing just that. We drove around checking the parking lot for other RVers (saw none) and Steve even went inside to make sure doing so was okay (our app already said we could, but it's the polite thing to do). Then we headed to a far corner of the lot and stopped. And we looked at each other. And we looked at the busy parking lot around us. Then back at each other. We sized up the pros and cons of staying and then we promptly called an RV park not to far away and made a reservation. So, like I said, we tried.

We made our way to the park, The Old Mill Camp & General Store (also in Cookeville), going the very way the lady on the phone said we should probably avoid. Little narrow country roads she said. Yup. Lots of twists and turns she said. Yup. But since we were already way past the way she said we SHOULD drive in, we took our chances. There were narrow roads and twists and turns but also some very pretty country scenery. Our favorite kind of drive.

The campground was small, new and very nice. It was across from a State Park and I think they must be worried about State Park visitors using their amenities because the bathroom and shower rooms were all coded.
